Wushu Applications Often Unknown

Understanding How to Use Wushu- Applications Are Often Not Known

Master Zhou understands the fighting applications of the Chinese Martial Arts.  Awaking early in the morning before school and going to the park at 5am a young Zhou Jian Hwa would go to the park and train with traditional masters in Xing Yi, Chang Quan, Nan Quan, Taiji, and many other forms of traditional martial arts. Being a Natural at Wushu, young Zhou was quickly recruited for his middle school Wushu Team and would train with the team at school, then after school was over he would go train at he legendary Jing Wu Association where he was exposed to even more Martial Arts. Zhou excelled in High School as well winning 1st place in many Shanghai competitions and has recruited for the Shanghai Sports University Team and was trained by Madam Wong, Cai Longyue and many other prominent wushu masters.

A New Level

When Matthew Schneider asked Master if  he continued training with his Masters from the park or at the Jing Wu, Zhou said "During College years, I would go train with my friends and Coaches in the park, however it was clear to everyone that my level I well surpassed the level they were training at, but I maintained a great relationship with them as cherished the lessons they taught me.  My traditional Masters helped me reach a high level and helped me standout among my peers, I was always very grateful to them for there instruction."

How to Understand Fighting Applications

Master Zhou attributes his fast knowledge to his teachers, but also notes that you can sometimes learn more from peers.  When asked to expand on that Master Zhou explained that sometimes the teachers don't like to share the real kung fu that easily, but when you are with your friends and training partners the information flows freely!  Master Zhou recalled being a student in the University Martial Program and said " The thing you have to understand about taking Martial Arts as a Major back then, first you had to be good at Martial Arts or "they" would not let you in. So everyone, even if they were not on the team, was still a high level martial artist back then.  Some of my classmates came from families with great martial art skills and we tested each other but more importantly we helped each other learn and grow."  To develop skill, you need to work on it with your peers, applications are not set in stone, if it works, then that is application.
